National Congress

Defined by architect Oscar Niemeyer as a manifestation of the spirit, imagination and poetry, the National Congress is one of the most beautiful buildings in Brasília. It is composed by two domes. The bigger one, convex, is the seat of the Chamber of Deputies, and the smaller one holds the Federal Senate. Between them there are two 100-meter-high towers with parliamentary offices.

The visit can be taken every day of the week, accompanied by guides who show the Black Room, the Green Room, plenary of the Chamber and of the Senate and the galleries. The Congress also holds works of art by important artists such as Di Cavalcanti, Alfredo Ceschiatti, Marianne Peretti, Fayga Ostrower, Carybé and Maria Bonomi.

Visiting hours: Chamber of Deputies: Mon - Fri, from 9 to 12 a.m. and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Federal Senate: Mon - Fri, from 9 to 11:30 p.m. and from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Tel: Chamber of Deputies: +55(61) 3318.5107 and Federal Senate: +55(61) 3311.3344.
