Muslim leader said the World Cup make countries widely known
The spiritual leader of the Muslims in Bahia, Sheikh Abdul Ahmad, said this Tuesday (24) in Salvador, that the World Cup is important to make some countries widely known. "Lots of countries are on the map, but are not known by people from other countries, said the Sheikh, during interview to journalists accredited to the Open Media Centre of Bahia.
Besides making countries widely known, mainly the ones from Africa, the World Cup, in Sheikh Ahmad's opinion, is also opportune to the contact between different cultures, festive and peaceful meetings, such as the living together of Muslims and non-Muslims. "Islam is the religion of peace. The ones who have faith live in peace", he said.
Nowadays, about 500 Muslims live in Salvador and they are local, African, Arabian, and North American people. According to him, the peaceful relationship is one of the main principles of Islam. "The misinterpretation of Quran leads to extreme acts of terrorism", he explained.
