Representatives from the Brazilian Ministries of Justice, Defense, and Sport, FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) met on Friday, 20 June, in Rio de Janeiro to assess the results of the safety and security operation in place after the first week of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

The meeting participants reaffirmed their support for an integrated approach to safety and security and conducted a detailed assessment of the safety operations in the stadiums. As a result of that assessment, the participants have decided to increase security in stadium perimeters (both in terms of personnel size and physical barriers) and to expand the presence of public safety officials for access control (mag and bags) and of private security staff (stewards) in the 12 stadiums.
