About 26,000 personnel from public safety authorities and from the Brazilian Armed Forces will be working during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil final on Rio de Janeiro this Sunday (13 July). The announcement was made on Thursday (10 July) by the Brazilian Minister of Justice, José Eduardo Cardozo, after a meeting in the city with representatives from the federal government and FIFA.

A total of 1,500 private safety officials have been designated for the internal stadium security. The number of safety agents for the World Cup final match is in line with the initial provisions of the safety plan created for the event.

“We will maintain the standard of excellence for public safety that we have had since the beginning of the World Cup”, highlighted Minister Cardozo.

In total, about 100,000 public safety officials and 50,000 officials from the Brazilian Armed Forces have been deployed throughout the World Cup. Total safety investments for the entire event reached R$ 1.9 billion.
