On June 26 the Chilean capital, Santiago, will host the first in a series of Embratur events to promote the Brazilian cities hosting the FIFA World Cup 2014. A total of 14 countries have been selected as priorities for the events, which run through to May 2013. The aim is to increase the awareness of tour operators and travel agents in each country through presentations on tourist attractions and the cultural wealth of the 12 host cities.
In addition to Chile, Embratur will hold events in Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, Canada, United States, Mexico, Germany, Spain, France, England, Italy and Portugal. The target audience includes specialized media, opinion-formers, investors and the authorities in each country. The event will be attended by spokespersons from Embratur, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry Sport and the States and Cities who will host the World Cup. It will also count on the presence of a special guest: a Brazilian athlete or former football player.
Each event will highlight a particular World Cup host city. Brasilia is the "Host City" for the opening event in Santiago, which will present an additional attraction: June 17 will be the 50th anniversary of Brazil becoming 2-times world champion, a title that was won in Chile. The exhibition space will have stands with multimedia presentations of the 12 World Cup venues, highlighting the particular Host City. In the evening there will be an event named "Brazilian Experience", with samples of dishes of typical Brazilian cuisine and a music show.
