Mantega says that the IMF commitment to reforms is 'the way we want'

The Finance Minister, Guido Mantega, said that the commitment to reforms announced on April 20 by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is "the way we want". "[The reform] is the way that we want. Nothing is missing", the Minister said, referring to the final declaration by the IMF, which contains a clear message of commitment to the changes that are supported by emerging countries.

The IMF announced that it has raised more than US$ 430 billion from its members - with US$ 362 billion coming from Japan and European countries. However the BRIC countries - a group formed by Brazil, Russia, India and China - are linking their capital injection to reforms, and did not disclose exact figures. The contribution of this group of countries is within an overall figure of around US$ 72 billion, which also includes participation by some Asian countries. Mantega said the US$ 430 billion is "an overall value with which we all agree - including the BRIC countries".
