26/04/2012 12:40 - Portal Brasil

The Deputy Head of Operations of the Division of Preparation and Employment at the Ministry of Defense, Air Maj. Gen. Gerson Nogueira, spoke at a joint public audience held on Tuesday morning (April 24) together with the Senate and the House of Deputies to discuss security at major events. He said that security and intelligence measures adopted for the Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development will leave a legacy for future major events such as the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympics.

"There is integration such as never before between the Armed Forces, the State and Rio City Hall", he said. He noted that more than 90 Heads of State and Government will be attending the conference, in addition to 50,000 people attending events running parallel to Rio+20.

He participated in the public audience to discuss issues relating to security and defense at major events planned to take place in Brazil. The debate is sponsored by the National Congress Joint Commission for the Control of Intelligence Activities and the Senate and House Committees on Foreign Relations and National Defense.
