During the 65th World Health Assembly at the headquarters of the World Health Organization (WHO), the Brazilian Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha, highlighted the success of the 'Priceless Health' program in his speech. Cost-free medication for treatment of hypertension and diabetes in people's drugstores was presented to representatives of the United Nations (UN) member states as one of the main actions to combat these chronic diseases in Brazil.
"In our country, 72% of deaths are a result of these diseases. With the support and the leadership of the WHO, we should leave here with a consensus on goals and indicators to monitor progress on actions to be taken to face this great challenge", said Padilha.
