"Resources for the works in host cities are guaranteed, even if there are any delays. There is no perspective of withdrawing, considering that such works were chosen with great care and are imperative both in airports and in ports, in addition to mobility," said this week the Minister of Planning, Miriam Belchior. The statement was made during the presentation ceremony of the third review of the actions of the Brazilian Government for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, responding to the question on the possible withdrawal of works from the Cup’s Responsibility Matrix.
To the Minister of sport, Aldo Rebelo, the Responsibility Matrix could even include new works. "Our idea is not to work with exclusion, our idea is exactly the inclusion, even expand, if possible, the number of works in the ResponsibilityMatrix", explained the Minister. The balance presented at the Ministry of Sport shows that the federal Government is undertaking 60 works in 12 host cities and the investment of R$ 27.1 billion is to be maintained.
Only the works of ports and airports have been put together for the ventures of the PAC for the 2014 World Cup. According to the balance, R$ 7.4 billion should be invested to 31 joint ventures in 13 airports. From these, 13 are in progress and five have already been delivered: one in Cuiabá (MT), one in Porto Alegre (RS), two in São Paulo and one in Campinas (SP). As for the ports, there is an estimate of R$ 900 million in investments for re-adaptation and revitalizationof seven units. The works have already been initiated in four units: Fortaleza (CE), Recife (PE), Natal (RN) and Salvador. The ports of Santos (SP) and Rio de Janeiro are in the bidding phase, and the port of Manaus (AM) is at the stage of project elaboration.
