The president Dilma Rousseff opened today (July 26th) the Brazil at Heart exhibition. The initiative shall promote the image of Brazil during the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games and it is an initiative of the Ministries of Sports, Foreign Affairs and Tourism, the Brazilian Tourism Institute (Embratur) and the Brazilian Agency for Export Promotion and Investments (Apex-Brazil). On the occasion, the new Embassy of Brazil in London shall also be opened.
The Brazil at Heart will show the country's ability to host mega events with innovative products and services, in addition to increasing tourism potential. The space will be open to the public from July 28 and remain with the show until September 2. There are 13 projects, all selected by the program 14Bis, a partnership between the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ). Among the projects is Visorama, a virtual reality system in which, through binoculars, visitors will be able to "walk around" 360 degrees panoramic images of Rio de Janeiro.
Yet the Torcida Social will show how sports fans can join in a competition for best guesses on Facebook and Smartphones. The idea is that participants submit predictions for the outcome of games and compete for the title of best armchair critic. The application is adaptable to any competition.
In another setting, Neymar, one of the greatest stars of world soccer, will invite visitors to challenge him in "keepy uppys" in a virtual experience. The game is powered with kinect technology and the public can interact with the player by playing with virtual balls to show how much he/she is prepared for the 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Visitors will also have 12 totems available, with videos and information from each of the 12 host cities for the 2014 World Cup.
