The Brazilian experience in the fight against forced labor
Fight against contemporary slave labour is a major item on the human
rights promotion agenda in Brazil. The country believes that the
protection of human rights and human dignity is an indispensable
requirement for a democratic nation. It is a principle enshrined in the
Federal Constitution, which states in Article 1, paragraph 3, that “the
dignity of the human person” is the foundation of the Federative
Republic of Brazil.
