The Studies and Projects Finance Organization (Finep) is a public company managed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, which promotes economic and social development by fostering innovation in public companies, universities, technological institutes and other public or private institutions in Brazil. Finep issues loans and grants to public and private institutions. Grants are sourced by the National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development (FNDCT) (content in Portuguese). Finep finances its own loans, and also gets funding from other sources. See some of the major Finep programs:
Finep Inova Brasil - The Innovation Fostering Program for Brazilian Companies: low-cost financing for research projects, development and innovation in Brazilian companies.
Juro Zero - Fast finance, requiring no collateral and little paperwork for innovation in production and marketing for small firms operating in sectors prioritized by the Industrial, Technological and Foreign Trade Policy (PITCE).
Inovar Semente - Investment Program for the Creation of Technology-based Companies that focuses on small technology-based start-ups.
Inovar - Innovation Incubator Fund - Supporting the creation of venture capital funds that back innovative ventures, the incubator has a primary role in the formation of the large Brazilian companies of the future.
Subvenção Econômica (Economic Subsidies) - This allows the issue of direct public grants to companies, sharing costs and risks.
Prime - The First Innovative Company Program supports emerging businesses of up to two years old with subsidies for 12 months. Companies that achieve the goals established in their business plans will be eligible top apply for loans from the Zero Interest Rate Program.
Programa Juro Zero (Zero Interest Program) - With interest-free loans payable over 100 installments, the program offers unique conditions for financing micro and small innovative enterprises (MSEs) with annual revenues of up to R$ 10.5 million.
